Both faces of the Aivoque comforter are cut from the same Q-Max tested cooling jersey. Roll over at 3am and the fabric on the other side is as cool as the side just left.
An ordinary comforter is an insulator. That is its entire job: trap body heat and hold it close. It does that job well — right up until the body starts producing heat it urgently needs to get rid of.
Night sweats are one of the most common reasons women in menopause wake in the middle of the night. In that moment an ordinary comforter is not neutral. It is a heat trap.
What Q-Max actually measures
Q-Max is the standard laboratory measure of how fast heat moves from skin into fabric in the first instant of contact. Higher number, cooler the fabric feels the moment it touches. 0.40 W/cm² is the figure commonly cited in the cooling textile trade as the point where a fabric registers as genuinely cool to the touch rather than merely breathable.

How it is built
90% nylon, 10% spandex. Nylon conducts heat away from the point of contact faster than cotton or bamboo, and the flat jersey knit keeps as much of that surface against skin as possible. Identical fabric top and bottom — there is no warm face.
Enough loft to feel like a comforter rather than a sheet, little enough to avoid becoming the insulating layer the whole design is trying to escape. Roughly a summer to shoulder-season weight.
Wide diagonal wave lines rather than a dense box grid. Fewer stitch lines crossing the surface means more unbroken cooling fabric in contact with skin. The manufacturer uses a bonded batting rather than loose fibre, and states that it keeps its shape through washing without any additional tacking. We are wash-testing our own sample before this ships, and if the fill moves, this does not go on sale.
Tested for harmful substances on the finished product, certificate valid through May 2027.

Common questions
Is one side cooler than the other?
No. Many cooling comforters put the cooling fabric on one face and a warmer backing on the other, which is why they stop working the moment someone rolls over. Aivoque uses the same 170 gsm cooling jersey on both faces, and the Q-Max retest on each production batch measures both sides.
Does the cooling wash out?
The cooling effect comes from the fibre itself and the structure of the knit, not from a chemical finish sprayed onto the surface. There is no coating to wash away. Each production batch is Q-Max retested on a randomly selected finished piece before it ships.
Will the fill clump after washing?
The manufacturer uses a bonded batting rather than loose fibre, and states that it keeps its shape through washing without additional tacking. That is their statement, not a test result we have run — so we are washing our own sample before this ships. If the fill moves, this does not go on sale, and this answer will be replaced with what we actually found.
Is it warm enough for winter?
On its own, in a cold room, probably not. The 100 gsm fill is a light summer to shoulder-season weight — that is a deliberate choice, since a thick fill would reintroduce exactly the insulation the design is built to avoid. In winter it layers well under a heavier blanket while still keeping the cool fabric against skin.
One person in the bed sleeps cold. Does that work?
This is the most common household arrangement in this category: two separate comforters on one bed, each person under their own. Aivoque on one side, a regular duvet on the other. Nobody has to negotiate the thermostat.
Why only one size?
Queen (90" × 90") is the only size in this first production run. Every additional size means a separate minimum production run, and a new brand that spreads a first run across three sizes ends up with three shortages instead of one honest inventory. Twin and King follow once demand justifies the run.
